As part of the Wisconsin Hometown Stories: Youth Media project, students from Appleton West High School examined one family’s history as refugees fleeing Laos and their journey to Appleton, Wisconsin. With support from PBS Wisconsin Education and Appleton community members, students conducted research, learned about creating and producing media, and produced short documentaries. Through the Fire: A Hmong Family’s Story of Resilience and Success provides a look into how food tells stories and unites communities.
